A fantastic vintage Spanish terracotta water pitcher, dating from the mid 20th century.
 
Handmade from terracotta and finished with a soft cream tin glaze, the jug is decorated with loose blue swirling brushwork that gives it a wonderfully rustic Mediterranean feel. The combination of the warm terracotta body, creamy glaze and blue detailing is particularly lovely, with plenty of variation and character from the handmade process.
 
Originally intended as a practical water vessel, it now works just as beautifully as a decorative piece. A lovely addition to an eclectic kitchen, country interior or Mediterranean-inspired scheme, and equally good simply displayed on its own.
