A stunning and unusually rare set of four vintage ‘Basket’ chairs bySwiss designer Gian Franco Legler, dating to circa 1950.
 
Instantly recognisable for their sculptural basket-like form, these iconic mid-century chairs combine beautifully woven natural wicker with elegant chrome-plated steel frames. The chrome finish is a particularly desirable and less commonly seen variation of Legler’s celebrated design, adding a striking contrast to the warmth and texture of the wicker.
 
Designed in the early 1950s, the Basket Chair is a wonderful example of the era’s experimentation with organic materials and innovative forms. The rounded, enveloping shape creates a surprisingly comfortable seat, while the open wicker construction gives the chairs a light and airy appearance.
