Rare Antique Japanese Shigaraki Kiln Round Stoneware Jar/Pot. Beautifully uneven and textured with patina, made using local sandy clay with a mineral glaze splattered over the surface with areas of dark ash adding depth to the natural beauty. This piece would have been made in the late 1800s/early 1900s using a specialist kiln, which is considered one of six specialist crafts in Japan. Today, this could be used as a vase to create the perfect Wabi-Sabi space. Stamped with makers mark on the base.
Sourced in Kyoto, Japan.
