A beautiful large vintage Spanish terracotta lebrillo, dating from the mid 20th century.
Handmade and generously proportioned, this traditional Spanish serving bowl has a lovely cream tin-glazed interior decorated with loose blue swirling details. The combination of the warm terracotta body, soft cream glaze and hand-painted blue decoration gives it that wonderfully rustic Mediterranean character.
The lebrillo is a traditional Spanish form of large, shallow earthenware bowl, historically used for a variety of practical domestic purposes including food preparation, washing and serving. This example has all the charm of a genuinely handmade piece, with variations in the glaze, brushwork and surface adding to its character.
A fantastic decorative piece for an eclectic or Mediterranean-inspired interior, and equally lovely displayed on a kitchen dresser, open shelving or console.
