A beautiful handmade contemporary British studio pottery charger by Pat Rae, signed and dated 2005.
The charger has a wonderful tactile, handmade quality, with an organic form and individual surface character that makes it feel much more like a piece of art than conventional tableware. The natural variations, iron-rich marks, colouring and marks from the making and firing process add to its Japanese Mingei style appeal.
This particular piece sits comfortably on a slight rise giving the bowl some height.
Signed and dated 2005 on the reverse, making it a particularly nice example for collectors of British studio pottery and contemporary ceramics.
A striking piece to display on a wall, stand or console, or simply enjoyed as a sculptural ceramic object.
